Open Studio

Before booking Open Studio time, please read the ENTIRE description below:
Open Studio is for individuals who have previous experience working with clay.
You will have access to communal work tables, pottery wheels (on a first come first serve basis), studio tools, materials and firings.
Eligibility
Must be able to work independently (without instruction), safely and respectfully in our shared studio space.
To qualify, you must have taken a course and/or multiple one off workshops at Wedge Studio or equivalent AND have studio approval. Please reach out to confirm eligibility before booking for the first time.
Pottery Wheels
If planning to use a pottery wheel at Wedge, attendees must have experience with the entire wheel throwing process (throwing, trimming, etc).
Studio Guidelines
Materials: Clay and glaze are available for purchase at Wedge. To prevent damage to the kiln, materials from outside of the studio MUST first be approved by studio manager before use.
Labeling: Use provided post-it notes to label all work with your full name and date. Unlabeled work will be discarded.
Cleaning:
Wipe clean all work surfaces, boards, tools and equipment.
Mop your work area and dispose of any clay on the floor into the garbage.
Wipe the glaze buckets/jars after using.
Please keep to the scheduled hours and ensure that you are cleaned-up and have left the studio by the end of session.
Drying and Firing Time: Allow a minimum of two weeks for drying and firing, including before returning to glaze. Manage your own timings independently.
Work Storage:
Wet work and greenware: Stored for 2 months.
Bisqued work: Stored for 2 months.
Glazed work: Stored for 1 month.
After the timing above, all work will be discarded
Firing Fees
Your firing fee will be calculated based on how much space your work takes up on the kiln shelf.
1/4 shelf (half of half-round) - $8
1/2 shelf (half round) - $15
Full shelf (full round) - $29
* One full kiln shelf measures 21” in diameter.
* You will be charged only once for the entire firing process - fee includes both bisque + glaze firings.
* If your work measures taller than 8”, it will be charged at $0.06/cubic inch.
Other Important Guidelines:
Attendees must not use this time to provide instruction to others.
Open Studio sessions are for adults aged 18 and over.
Refunds are not available.
